Ladybug, Ladybug

Hi there, blogger friends!  Happy Saturday to you all.  I'm singing at a conference here at church today, and I'm trying to do something useful with my time until the next session.  I haven't had a chance to blog anything these past couple of weeks, so I thought I'd do that :-)

Let's flashback to Thursday.  It was Day 31 at 365 Cards.  The challenge was to use a piece of poetry on your project.  It was a little hard to start with the image and find a poem to match, rather than starting with the poem then finding an image to compliment.  So with a quick search for poems about ladybugs, and then sifting through a bazillion preschool songs, I found this poem that I thought would be perfect for a card:

"I'm sending luck and wishes
All wrapped up in a hug
Good things should come your way
With this tiny ladybug."
~Author Unknown

The image I used is from our sponsor this week, Digi Doodle Shop.  They have some super cute things, so make sure to check out their site!  Also, it's not too late to play along with this challenge (or any of the challenges this week)-- You've got until Monday night to post the links to your cards :-)

Again with the late blogging. Gah! lol

Let's just cut to the chase here.  What I have to show you today is actually Thursday's card for 365 Cards.  The challenge is to pick something that is currently trending and use it on your card.  Now, I don't necessarily focus on what's trendy (at least not on purpose), but if I spend a little time thinking about it I do notice certain things.  It seems like I've been seeing a lot of lace everywhere lately, so that's what I decided to use on my project:

I kinda like how this turned out.  There's a lot of "stuff" there on the card, but it's not overwhelming. Well, it's past my bedtime PLUS I'm losing an hour of sleep with Daylight Savings starting tomorrow. Uggggh. Lol.  Well, good night all! And don't forget, you still have until Monday night to link up your cards for this challenge-- it's not too late!

Weird Weekend

This has been a really weird couple of days.  Not a bad weird, just---- different. Haha. My sis and I sang at a funeral on Friday.  What was supposed to be two or three songs turned into an hour and fifteen minutes of me literally making up accompaniments to songs I didn't know.  That was interesting.  Next time I agree to do that, I'll definitely be asking some more specific questions.  The super long funeral made me almost completely miss work, but it wasn't a huge deal.  And speaking of work, we got out early at the preschool which is really rare.  I got called into work at church again, but then got sent home early because half the kids didn't show up.  SO yeah. It was just weird.

Saturday was less weird.  My cousin's first communion was in the morning, then my sister and I spent the rest of the day at our church singing.  Afterward we checked out a new brewery with some friends.  That was a good time. Sang again this morning and then came home to chill AND of course, make cards :-)

I've got three for you tonight...

Finally finished the rest of the "White Space" challenges @ 365 Cards!  I think these two might've been the most challenging (or they just happened to come on the days I was most tired!).  Here is Day 47.  I don't know if I love this one.  But the little sis liked it (and she's probably my harshest critic) so I'll post it ;-)

And here's Day 48.  Took me a while to come up with this one.  I'm probably stretching the boundaries of this one just a tad with the shape of the decorated space, but it seems like there's been this mini-competition all week long to see who can stretch the rules and/or freak Pam out the most ;-) You guys are funny... and you make mine look like it's not a big deal. Hee hee.

For today's Super Sketchy Sunday challenge, I kind of had to force myself out of "white-space" mode!!  I know Pam mention something about olives, but I kept seeing half of a hard-boiled egg. Haha. But I thought that might be a dumb card, so I squinted my eyes and tilted my head and wondered what kind of animal you could make that has a big round body and a little round head...

SHEEP! Hahahaha... I hope you like it. (Haley, I thought of you when I made this! lol)  Thanks for looking and I hope you've all had a pleasant, restful weekend :-)

Whoa! Catch-up Time!

Friday night I left for a weekend retreat with the student ministry at my church. We had an awesome time and even though it was super cloudy, we never had any rain that kept us from any of our activities. One of the events of the weekend was for each group to choreograph a song for a lip-sync competition. My group of 7th grade girls did a FANTASTIC job. The video of their routine is at the end of this post--it's pretty awesome :-)

Aaaannnd because I was gone all weekend, I got behind on the 365 Cards challenges. But, I'm all caught up!! Here are all my entries for Friday through today:

Friday, Day 12 "Circle Frenzy"
Include 20 or more circles from at least two sources.
Some of the circles are from the patterned paper, some are punch and some are hand drawn.

Saturday, Day 13 "A Whole New Dimension"
Take an image and... raise some portion of it off the page to give it dimension.
The two flowers are raised off of the image.

Sunday, Day 14 "Super Sketchy Sunday"
Click on link to see sketch.

Monday, Day 15 "Ad-Inspired"
Click on link to see ad.

Tuesday, Day 16 "Opposites Attract"
Feature a pair of opposite images on your card - sun/moon, sun/rain, boy/girl, etc.

If you made it all the way to the end of this post, bless your heart. Lol. Thanks so much for checking out my blog :-) And now, if you have yet a few more minutes to spare, check out the lip-sync my girls did this weekend... If you go to the actual YouTube page, you can see it a lot better!

Wackiness

Today is "Wacky Color Wednesday" and Day 10 at 365 Cards. The color combo is orange, purple and blue. It sounds a little crazy, but I decided to go for a sort of simple, "chunky" look and I think it turned out rather nice. I even pulled out the sewing machine again... it was a bear getting it to stitch evenly around that curve!

Well, hopefully I'll have another post up tonight... I got the new "Forever Young" Cricut cartridge (the flower on this card is from this one) and I'm itching to try it out some more! Thanks for looking :-)

Oh Spring, PLEASE Come. Now.

I can't wait until spring... It's so bright and sunny outside right now, but it's still 33 degrees! I work at a preschool and I'm getting tired of cabin-fevered children. Haha.

I have two projects to share with you today! The first is for 365 Cards' Day 362 Challenge. This time we're scraplifting Amy's style... "fun, bright, and whimsical." The first thing I noticed about Amy's original card was the awesome combination of colors and patterns. For my card, I scraplifted the scalloped circle shape and I used patterned paper. I loved the pinwheel, so I tried to mimic that by folding the flower.

Hang on... I have glue or something on my glasses...

Okay, all better :-) My second card is one that I made for a friend of my mom. I've seen cards like this, but I've never tried to make one. I love how it turned out.

Let me know what ya think! Have a great day!

Bold and Beautiful

Okay, this post is gonna be a quickie... I've gotta leave for work in about 20 minutes, and I'm trying to eat lunch as I type this.

Today's card is for the second scraplift challenge at 365 Cards. The challenge was to mimic Audrey's signature style, which is "fresh, bold, and vibrant."

Yay!

So, I'm super excited about this... I got to be the guest designer for today on 365 Cards challenge blog!! It's reader appreciation week-- you should check it out. There's been some fabulous stuff this week.

Here's the card I submitted:

All of the patterned paper is Amy Butler. Oh, how I love that paper :-) I created the tag using a circle cutter on an old-ish Creative Memories journaling box. Then I created the scalloped circle with some decorative scissors. I attached the two together with an eyelet, then tied them with a piece of hemp cord. Ta-da.

In other news... hmm... well there really isn't much "other news." I'm just excited to be a part of this! Thanks for checking it out :-)

Well, orange you just the cutest!

I feel good about this title. LoL.

Well, It's been over a week and a half since I've participated in any challenges, so I figured it was definitely time for another one (or two).

This is my first time playing along with 365 Cards. The challenge was to create a card using your least favorite color. It was easy picking the color! I almost never use orange. Dark yellow, "orangey" yellow-- yes. But not orange. In fact, I have a folder where I have all of my little scrap pieces of paper separated by color: there is NO orange in there. At all. I did, however, find five sheets of bright orange paper that had never been cut.

Just to help spark the creativity a little bit, I combined this with this week's Use It challenge. The challenge for this one was to use eyelets, something over 1 year old, and polka dots. I had eyelets-- orange ones at that! In case it's hard to see, they're in the button which doubles as my "1 year old" thing. I don't even remember where I got the round epoxy stickers, but I'm pretty sure they were on clearance a kagillion years ago. Anyway, I punched a couple of holes in it to look like a button, added the eyelets and threaded the ribbon through.

The polka dots are on the paper. It's hard to see in the picture, but the white background paper has the embossed polka dots, just like the ones on the green leaves.
